Daddy's Boots
by Alex Watt & Roger Corbett
I want to drive the tractor I want to plough the ground
Gonna sit there next to Dad as we go round and round
Watching everything he does as we head up the field
Wishing I was old enough to take the wheel
But I'm just a boy wearing Daddy's boots
Not even 8 years old
(Got my) work clothes on with a bit of grease
(And a) coat for when I'm cold
When I'm with my Dad I feel like a King
As we drive off in the ute
But I'm just a boy wearing Daddy's boot
He taught me to drive it when I was only young
Barley see over the dash made the old chooks run
Helping him out when I could there was always work to do
When he had a cup of tea I'd sit and have one too
Me and Dad out on the farm we're the best of mates
We'd have a laugh while we worked then I'd hear him say
Oh your just a boy wearing Daddy's boots
Not even 8 years old
(Got your) work clothes on with a bit of grease
(An a) coat for when your cold
When you're with me son I feel like a King
As we drive off in the ute
But you're just a boy wearing Daddy's boots
Oh I'm just a boy wearing Daddy's boots
